Top 10 Fabless IC Design Houses Post 73% YoY Growth – AMD Breaks into Top Three

TrendForce’s latest research shows the world’s top 10 fabless IC design companies grew combined revenue by 73% YoY in 2Q26, surpassing $141.45 billion. AI demand for GPUs, CPUs, ASICs, and interconnect products drove the surge.

NVIDIA held first place with $91.16 billion in revenue, up 99% YoY – now 64% of the top 10’s combined total. Growth came from hyperscalers, NeoCloud operators, sovereign AI projects, and enterprise customers.

AMD climbed to third with $11.53 billion, as agentic AI renewed the strategic importance of CPUs. Its data centre CPU revenue hit a record high for the fifth straight quarter.

Broadcom ranked second at $18.89 billion, up 112% YoY. Its custom ASIC business grew alongside XPU deployments, with six major customers including OpenAI and Google’s TPU v8. Broadcom also began shipping a custom ASIC designed for OpenAI and Google last quarter.

Qualcomm slipped to fourth at $8.5 billion, down 5% YoY, facing weakness in smartphones and modem share. Its automotive segment continued double-digit growth.

MediaTek ranked fifth with $4.81 billion. The company raised its AI ASIC outlook and expects data centre revenue to exceed $2 billion in 2026, with its ASIC serviceable market estimated at $80 billion by 2028.

Further down, Marvell, Realtek, MPS, Novatek, and OmniVision filled out the top ten.

The bigger picture

Agentic AI is bringing CPUs back into the spotlight, while optical interconnects become critical for scaling compute. Custom silicon is no longer a niche – it is now a core growth engine for the largest chip designers.
